When you are looking at becoming a foster carer there are several stages to go through. These are:
- The initial enquiry: Reaching out to us about fostering is easy and commitment-free. A simple phone call lets you ask any questions and get personalised advice about fostering types suited to you. Our team is here to help, offering expert guidance and support for your journey into fostering.
- A home visit: A supervising social worker will visit you at home to discuss fostering in detail. This meeting allows us to understand your motivations, explain the process, and share the support we offer. It’s also a chance to explore fostering types that suit your lifestyle and aspirations.
- The application and assessment process: Once invited to apply, you’ll complete an application and undergo a thorough assessment with an allocated social worker. This includes home sessions, checks, and references, plus a 3-day training event to prepare you for fostering. The process typically takes six months and equips you with vital skills and insights.
- Approval: Once your assessment is complete, the Fostering Panel will review your report to recommend fostering types that suit your situation. It’s a key step in the process, but you’ll have the support of your social worker and Fostering2Inspire throughout.
If you’re based in Rotherham and considering fostering, we would love to hear from you. Our experienced team will guide you through every stage of the process, from your initial enquiry and home visit to the assessment process and beyond. Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of children and young people. Please contact us to speak with a fostering expert.
