Many people wonder about looking after a child or young person and will ask, what is fostering? They may be unsure if they are able to become a foster parent and would want to find out more information about it.
Fostering is a potentially life changing experience where foster carers are able to really make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children and young people. It is something which can be done by people from many different backgrounds and it provides challenges for everyone involved.
Fostering is when a dedicated foster carer provides a caring and safe home for children and young people when they are unable to live with their parents or guardians. The care and attention given through fostering is simply fantastic and here at Fostering2Inspire we are only too happy to support our foster carers throughout their journey. But what is a foster carer?
What is a foster carer?
A foster carer is an integral part of the fostering process and is the person who offers a safe and caring home for children and young people who can no longer stay with their parents or guardians. The work they do is essential and cannot be underestimated, and at Fostering2Inspire, all of our carers are fully committed to their role.
They are focused on being the best foster carer they can be, by attending training sessions and are given support to help develop their skills so they are able to meet the needs of anyone in their care. Not only do they take control of caring for a foster child at home, but also support them at school, manage any behavioural issues and monitor their health and wellbeing.
As fostering experts we really do believe that fostering is for everyone and work hard to ensure that all applicants have a fair chance of becoming a foster carer. So in answer to the question - what is fostering? – it is a great thing to do but does not just happen, as it takes time for a foster parent to fully understand the needs of a child or young person.
Fostering is a life changing experience and something which should be thought through in depth by any applicant. We are here to help guide you with your decision and tell you everything there is to know about fostering. If you would like to find out more then please contact us now.
